Perlan: The Wonders of Iceland
Phase 2
Perlan: The Wonders of Iceland : Phase 2
Reykjavik, Iceland
25,000 sq.ft., 2322 sq. meters
Volcanoes, plate tectonics, earthquakes and geothermal forces are explored in another gallery, one featuring projections, audio and shaking furniture, that dramatically convey the strength of the natural forces that have shaped the country.
A highly-realistic recreation of a small portion of a remote northern bird cliff soars three stories high above visitors heads. Seen through fixed interactive viewers the birds come to life by mean of custom animations. Next door, a curved theatre presents a cinematic underwater experience, taking visitors around the coast of Iceland, meeting everything from whales to algae, in an extra-wide projection, more reminiscent of an aquarium than a theatre screen.
Perlan - Wonders of Iceland has been designed to seamlessly and respectfully integrate into an iconic building and to bring new life to an important Reykjavik landmark.
