SIOUXLAND FREEDOM PARK
EXHIBIT DESIGN
Siouxland Freedom Park
South Sioux City, Nebraska
Siouxland Freedom Park honours American Veterans and active service men and women. The exhibition contributes to a space of healing by sharing stories, images and objects across many eras of the American Military. The exhibit challenges a singular narrative by sharing stories from a wide variety of individuals to reflect the diversity of service members.
Central to the design was a focus on the concept of "home". The profile of a rooftop acts as the key organizing principle of the exhibit and domestic elements such as drawers and picture frames are used throughout to display content. The focus on the domestic sphere reminds visitors that the stories being told are extremely personal and that the impact of serving in the military extends far beyond the individual to the families and friends of service members.
