Canada’s Diversity Gardens

Assiniboine Park
Winnipeg, Manitoba

Assiniboine Park, founded in 1904, is a sprawling 1,100-acre green space in Winnipeg and one of Canada’s largest and most popular urban parks. As part of the transformation led by the Assiniboine Park Conservancy, the park introduced a groundbreaking cultural destination: Canada’s Diversity Gardens including an impressive new conservatory by KPMB. WBa was brought on to partner with Lord Cultural Resources on a series of interpretive nodes that told personal stories of individuals' relationship to nature with an emphasis on diverse cultural perspectives. The design compliments the architecture and the spectacular botanical gardens. The interpretive nodes are weather-resistant and flexible, allowing them to highlight new stories over time.
